Bed of Roses

Bed of Roses
by Nora Roberts

Obviously I enjoyed the escape of the first book in the bride quartet novels enough to pick up the second in the series.  Bed of Roses follows Emma Grant, the florist.

The reader is thrown back into the world of Vows (the girls wedding business) and the four friends.  It's enjoyable to slip back into their familiar world and to pick up essentially right where you left off.  Emma falls for a childhood friend, Jack Cooke.  Jack doesn't like commitment and Emma is looking for a relationship, can they make it work?

Roberts again has done her research and extensively describes what Emma's life is like as a florist and what the wedding business is like.  It at times gets a little monotonous . . . information overload, and I am a florist.

The story line follows the same pattern as her last book.  Boy and girl reconnect; boy and girl fall in love and realize they want to be together; boy and girl have huge misunderstanding that they must overcome; happy ending.

I do think Roberts wrote Vision in White more carefully as I found several mistakes in Bed of Roses and it just didn't seem to flow as smoothly as the first book.  I will say again that Nora Roberts is very good at her character development.  The characters are well rounded and seem to jump off the pages.

I still enjoyed the escape and I look forward to seeing what the other two girls have in store for them . . .  although, I already know who they are going to end up with, it's easy to tell.
